I Made a Red White and Blue Wonky House Block

Yes, yes.  I have been busy.  I joined the commuter van for transportation to and from work.  The traffic around here has just become unnervingly thick.  I drove in last Thursday, so I could do a five-mile hike in the foothills right after work.  I do not regret it. I did just fine. The important thing is the company was good.  Meanwhile, I have three quilts to get bindings on. I have to finish my "Greedy" wall-hanging, and deliver a couple of sassy doll quilts.  Meanwhile, my one quilt group did a fat quarter swap last Wednesday night.  I have a mostly red one, solid blue one, and a tone-on-tone white dotty one, then the one we are supposed to use with our RW&B fabrics.  Well, I did not want to use the extra one, mainly because it also has yellow in it.  Sue bullied encouraged me to use it, so I made it the sky of my wonky house block.  I admit it looks fab!!!  I decided if I had to have yellow in my block, I could also have one of my marvelous women in my block as well, so it has made me very happy.  I will be donating it, at our January meeting, to the group project.

Oh, I substituted the lady bug fabric for the
tone-on-tone white dotty fabric. 
I will make another block and use it in that one.

Orphan Block Challenge!

I had a wonderful time at the last Idaho PieceMakerS Meeting, in Kuna.  We all brought our Orphan Block projects and presented them to their owners, all finished in a surprise fashion.

The really amazing part was what became of the two orphan blocks I submitted for completion by someone else. 

I made these two blocks at a quilting class in spring 2014. I learned paper piecing and enjoyed the experience, but I did not want to make anymore of these type of blocks for a quilt.  I prefer my own free-style method of making wonky house blocks.  So, these went into the paper bag for the Orphan Block Challenge.  It turns out Mary, picked my bag from the pile on the table and what she brought back, two months later, was a wonderful pleasing surprise to me!  Below are the front and back of the most fabulous tote bag!  The back has the trees block and it is a pocket. She, also, put a pocket on the inside. The bag is lined in navy blue.  Mary is an excellent seamstress and made me feel extra special with this wonderful finished project!

Happy New Year!

I took a break from moving activities/working at old house over the Christmas and New Years holidays.  On December 19, I completed a fabulous Dalek pillow case for our daughter.  On New Year's Day, our daughter helped me to hang my wonky houses quilt on the wall in my new quilt room.  We had a wonderful time!

I can see the entire thing at one time.

Wonky House Block

Hi! Just got back from the Second Annual Naughty Quilters Retreat.  I got the quilt top finished for my Aunt's quilt and I did something else, then I got to do some experimenting and made a wonky house quilt block that is not so wonky.  I just love the quilt tops that Freddy Moran makes. I have the book, "Collaborative Quilting" by Freddy Moran and Gwen Marston. It is Fab.  Here is my first (not so) wonky quilt block. Wild and crazy, yes. Wonky, no.  I will have to practice!
